I’m a left handed guitar player and vocalist who considers himself a singer songwriter. I started playing guitar and sing/performing for audiences April 2012 at One Eyed Jacks in Fairborn, Ohio. This was a time in my life when I was dealing with a lot of adversity that seemed to never end.

I joined the United State Marine Corps four months before graduating high school in 2003. I grew up in Dublin, Ohio and man was the Marine Corps a change from my everyday life in suburbia USA. I have ADHD and one of the best drugs for me was the Marine Corps, according to my mother! I was deployed to Iraq in 2004 and was injured during training, which I tore my left meniscus and anterior crucial ligament. First real bit of adversity I ever had to deal with was being injured and an active duty Marine.

After four years of active duty I decide to give college a shot. In January 2008 I attended Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio full time. I always loved music and art and more importantly I loved to sing. I auditioned for a minor in vocal performance at the university in the summer of 2010 and was excepted. Also, while going to college I joined the Wright State University’s Division II Mens Ice Hockey Team. I played up until I had my left pinky finger cut off during a hockey fight in Nov 2010. Another battle with adversity had begun.

Some of my relationships had fallen apart, I was not taking care of my body, was using drugs to cope with life, grades were begging to drop, and recovery was not just physical, but mental and emotional. Every aspect of my life was effected and things that I thought were over with and done came to the surface. Life was literally, hell on earth.

The guitar and music happened to fall upon me at the most precise time in my life. This was a place, a thing that I could do and enjoy and have release in a positive way. Soon I realized that others enjoyed it and that was a blessing. For me to find something that was so beneficial to me was an answer to prayers. Adversity still knocks at the door, but i’m not home, I’m out playing!
